The Bridgwater Workhouse Web

In 2017 the last part of Bridgwater’s Northgate Workhouse was demolished to make way for a school.

These are the opening lines on The Bridgwater Workhouse Web. The website came to live as a complement to informational panels in Northgate in Bridgwater.

The web design follows the design of informational boards. Brick wall in the background, light green background of chapters, rounded corners and images leaning in various angles closely match the printed version.

The website layout is build using modern CSS grid with a flexbox and floats as a fallback solution for older browsers. Images are served responsively and lazyloaded. The whole website is carefully handcoded with HTML5.
